Ondo: Truck rams into police patrol van, kills three officers, female suspect
A tragic accident in Ore, headquarters of Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State, has claimed the lives of three policemen and a female suspect.
The incident occurred on Thursday when a truck driver reportedly lost control, crossed the road median, and collided with a police van transporting the victims.
Police sources revealed that the officers were part of the Ondo State Police Command’s “monitoring unit,” tasked with tracking high-profile criminals. According to a source, the team of six officers was traveling from Akure to Ore to make an arrest when the unfortunate crash happened.

“Other officers in the vehicle who survived the accident were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment as they sustained different degrees of injuries,” the source said.
Efforts to reach Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, the state police spokesperson, for comments were unsuccessful. However, Samuel Ibitoye, Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in the state, confirmed the incident, attributing it to the truck driver’s excessive speed.
“The remains of the officers have been deposited at the morgue with the help of some good Samaritans,” Ibitoye stated.
