Truck crushes woman to death on Aba-Port Harcourt Expressway
A 40-year-old woman, has been crushed to death by a truck which lost control on the Eleme Junction axis of the Aba-Port Harcourt Expressway.
Simply identified as Chioma, the woman, eyewitnesses said was seated at the back of a tricycle popularly known as Keke when the truck lost control and rammed into it.
The driver of the tricycle was said to have managed to escape before the fatal incident which left the woman dead occurred.
Some other eyewitnesses said the truck driver was coming from Oyibo at about 9 am when the tragedy happened.
The eyewitness stated, “She was inside a Keke when it happened. The truck failed to break, and before you people were running, but before the Keke could move, the truck hit the side the woman was in and divided her body. “

Confirming the incident, the police in Rivers state said the truck driver had tried to avoid a stationary vehicle on the road but lost control.
The police said, “Today, January 27, 2025, at about 0900 hours along Aba-Port Harcourt Expressway, one Truck with registration number XP 633 JJ loaded with driven by a male was coming from Oyigbo heading towards Rumukrusi approaching Eleme junction in a bid to dodge a stationed vehicle lost control of the vehicle.
“The truck waged off the road and climbed a pavement, knocking down one Chioma Success, aged 40 years, who was standing, and she died on the spot.
“Copse removed and deposited at the morgue for preservation. Driver arrested. The vehicle recovered to the station for VIO inspection. The case will be transferred to the State traffic for further investigation,” the police stated.
