Truck driver crushes man to death while reversing
A truck driver has crushed to death a 49-year-old man identified as Gbolahan Aina in the Ikeja area of Lagos State.
The driver of the Mack truck, with registration number KJA 74 XQ, Donatus Godwin, reportedly engaged the reverse gear of the truck without knowing that Gbolahan was standing behind the truck.
Godwin said he reversed the truck and hit the victim, killing him on the spot.
The police was alerted and the victim was rushed to the hospital where doctors confirmed him dead.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, was quoted by The Punch as confirming the incident.
He said the corpse had been deposited at Mainland General Hospital for an autopsy.
“The corpse was evacuated to Mainland General Hospital and the body was deposited at the hospital mortuary for an autopsy,” said the police PRO.
