Trucks kills 14 Muslims returning from Jumat prayer in Kano
Tragedy struck on Friday at lmawa town, Kura Local Government area of Kano State along Zaria – Kano highway as a moving truck lost control and killed no fewer than 14 worshippers.
The Kano Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, CC Ibrahim Abdullahi who confirmed the incident to newsmen, said several other persons also sustained varying degrees of injuries.
In a statement by his spokesperson, CRC Abdullahi Labaran, the Sector Commander said preliminary reports showed that the truck with registration number Reg no: MKA 537 XN lost control and collided with pedestrians who had just concluded observing the Friday prayers.

The Sector Commander said efforts were ongoing to ascertain the exact circumstances surrounding the crash.
CC Abdullahi while expressing his condolences to families of the deceased, emphasised the corps’ commitment to road safety while urging all road users to adhere strictly to traffic regulations to prevent such avoidable tragedies,
In another development, a building under construction at Dorayi Babba, Gwale Local Government area of Kano collapsed, killing the owner, his child and construction workers.
It was gathered that the collapsed building also left eight others injured, including construction workers and passersby seeking shelter in the building during early morning rainfall.
Sources in the area, said victims were currently receiving treatment at Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital.
