“We’re honoured to be joined today by the First Lady of Nigeria, who also happens to serve as a Christian pastor at one of the largest churches in Nigeria — a very respected woman. First Lady, please, where are you? Thank you very much,” Trump said, drawing applause from attendees.
Mrs Tinubu, an ordained pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), was in attendance alongside top diplomats and international faith leaders. Her appearance placed her in the spotlight for her diplomatic engagement, religious leadership, and advocacy on faith and social issues.
Observers noted that Trump’s remarks come amid ongoing international discussions on Nigeria’s security and religious freedom, with the First Lady’s participation symbolising Nigeria’s emerging role on the global faith and diplomatic stage.
The National Prayer Breakfast, an annual gathering designed to foster dialogue between political and religious leaders, provided Mrs Tinubu with a platform to connect with influential figures worldwide, while also being publicly recognised by one of the world’s most prominent leaders.
Her recognition at the event reinforces her profile as both a spiritual and civic leader, highlighting the growing international attention on her contributions to Nigeria’s social, political, and religious landscape.
