Police Seal PDP National Secretariat
Turaki-Led PDP NWC Rejects Move to Reopen Wadata Plaza for Wike Allies
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has warned the Nigeria Police Force against reopening its national secretariat at Wadata Plaza, Abuja, to the Wike-led faction, insisting that the party’s leadership remains under the Tanimu Turaki-led National Working Committee (NWC).
In a statement issued by officials loyal to the Turaki-led NWC, the party said any attempt by the police to grant access to the secretariat to the faction aligned with Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, would amount to interference in an unresolved internal leadership dispute.

The PDP national headquarters was sealed following violent clashes that erupted when rival factions held parallel meetings at the secretariat late last year. Since then, control of the party’s headquarters has remained a major point of contention in the ongoing leadership crisis.
The Tanimu Turaki-led NWC maintained that it is the legitimate leadership of the PDP, stressing that several court cases challenging the rival faction are still pending. The committee warned that reopening the secretariat to one faction could escalate tensions and further destabilise the party.
According to the Turaki-led NWC, the Wike-backed faction is attempting to use the influence of government officials and security agencies to seize control of PDP structures, a move it described as unacceptable and contrary to democratic principles.
The group urged the Nigeria Police to remain neutral and act strictly in line with the law, warning that any action perceived as favouring the Wike faction could worsen the crisis within Nigeria’s main opposition party.
The leadership struggle has continued to divide the PDP, raising concerns over the party’s unity, internal democracy, and preparedness for future elections, as both factions insist they are the authentic leadership.
