Twin sisters hack brother to death over proceeds from from land sale
Two twin sisters, identified as Ikwo and Idak, have been apprehended and are currently in custody by detectives from the Nigeria Police Force. They are accused of luring and fatally attacking their older brother, Kokoette Effiom Effiong, in Calabar, Cross River state. The incident occurred over the weekend at Ikot Nakanda, where Kokoette was led to a bush by his sisters and subsequently killed following a fight that erupted due to a disagreement over the division of proceeds from the sale of their late father’s land in Akpabuyo.

According to a family source, Kokoette sustained severe machete wounds to his head during the attack, which ultimately resulted in his death. Otop Idebe, Kokoette’s cousin, recounted that the sisters carried out the assault in the bush behind their house, inflicting deep cuts on their brother’s head and arm.
The suspects justified their actions by claiming that their brother had amassed a significant amount of money from the sale of their father’s land, of which they were unaware. When another portion of the land was sold, they requested that the money be distributed equally among all the surviving siblings. However, their brother refused, leading to their unhappiness and prompting them to plan his death.
