Two burnt to death in Anambra fire explosion

Two persons were yesterday burnt to death in a fire explosion at the Odumodu Junction in the Umunya area of Oyi council of Anambra State.

The incident, which occurred on the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway, involved a gas tanker and a shuttle bus.

The Nation gathered that the tanker collided with the bus following a tyre burst, resulting in the fire which burnt two bus passengers beyond recognition.

State Director, Fire Service, Martin Agbili said his officials were quickly sent to the scene, adding that two people were burnt to death.

“By the grace of God, the fire was completely extinguished and no other casualties were recorded during the fire fighting.”

Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Adeoye Irelewuyi said five male adults were involved in the crash.

He said three persons were rescued unhurt.
