Two dead, many injured in Lagos transport workers’ fracas

Two persons were feared killed and many injured in a fracas between members of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) in Iyana-Iba along Lagos-Badagry Expressway.

The fight made many commuters scamper for safety.

The Nation learnt the fracas was due to the control of a newly created park by RTEAN members.

The park is tagged Under Bridge at Iyana-Iba in Ojo.

Vehicles and other properties have been destroyed by the warring factions.

According to a commercial bus operator, the fracas is between Goroso and Students factions.

“Goroso and Students are members of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN). The crisis is over who controls the new park created Under Bridge at Iyana-Iba, Ojo area. Many people have been injured and two persons dead,” he said.

According to him, commercial bus operators have stopped working to avoid damage to their vehicles.

Another commercial bus operators affirmed that it was a fight between RTEAN members.

“Those fight over new park are loyalists of Seyi Bamgbose (aka Students) and Kazeem Goroso. We can’t work now because some vehicles have been destroyed already,” he said.
