UAE announces 2-month amnesty for expired visa holders
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has initiated a two-month visa amnesty programme aimed at helping visitors who have overstayed their visas.
The initiative allows these individuals to either regularize their residency status or return to their home countries without facing penalties.
This programme is designed to help those who have remained in the UAE illegally after their visas expired, including residents and visitors whose visas have lapsed, as well as children born in the UAE whose parents did not secure residency for them.
The initiative also covers individuals who have absconded from their sponsors.

According to Maj Gen Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, Head of the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security, the amnesty offers an opportunity for violators to correct their status, which will improve the UAE’s standing in the human rights arena.
He emphasized the programme goal of enabling people to secure their rights, leave the country safely, or live and work decently in the UAE.
The amnesty can be accessed at various locations throughout the Emirates.
