UMA hails Imam Nojeem Jimoh emergence as Amir of The Companion
The University of Lagos Muslim Alumni (UMA) has congratulated Nojeem Jimoh on his election as the new National Amir (President) of The Companion, a leading network of Muslim professionals and businessmen in Nigeria.
Delegates confirmed his emergence during the association’s three-day national conference, which was concluded on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at De-Peace Hotel, Ilorin, Kwara State.
In a statement signed by its President, Dr. Mumini Alao, UMA described Imam Jimoh as “a leader of integrity, wisdom, and service,” citing his extensive contributions to the Muslim community in Nigeria and the United Kingdom.
The contributions were listed as being former President of the Islamic Awareness Forum (London), his role as Chief Imam of the Lighthouse Muslim Community in Lekki, and his service on the Da’wah Committee of the Lekki Central Mosque (LEMU).
The statement also noted his prior position as National Naibul-Amir of The Companion, his professional career as a retired oil and gas executive, his tenure as Chief Operating Officer of Taurus Oil & Gas Ltd., and his current role as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the African Housing Professionals Association.
This wealth of leadership and industry experience, the UMA said, will be invaluable in steering The Companion over the next two years.
A proud First-Class graduate in Political Science (1986) and Master’s degree
holder (1988) from the University of Lagos, Imam Jimoh is also the current Chairman of UMA’s Da’wah Committee that is charged with educating Alumni members and Muslims at large about the tenets of Islam. Dr. Alao concluded his statement by describing Imam Jimoh as “a shining example of UNILAG’s enduring legacy in producing leaders
who inspire change globally.”
