The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has denied reports that a military aircraft crashed in Kaduna, on Sunday.
There were reports on Sunday that a military aircraft, which was said to have taken off from Adamawa, crashed at a location in Kaduna state.
However, when contacted, Edward Gabkwet, NAF spokesman, told TheCable that no air crash occurred in Kaduna according to reports made available to the air force at the time.
He, however, added that he is “awaiting information from other locations”.
The development comes months after an air crash occurred in Kaduna, which led to the death of Ibrahim Attahiru, chief of army staff.
Aside from Attahiru, the incident which took place near Kaduna international airport, led to the death of 10 other military officers.
The defence headquarters had said the air crash, which involved a Beechcraft 350 belonging to the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), was caused by bad weather.
“The unfortunate incident occurred after landing at the Kaduna International Airport due to inclement weather,” Onyema Nwachukwu, army spokesman, had said in a statement.
“The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Lucky Irabor has therefore directed that an Accident Investigation Board be constituted to unravel the immediate and remote cause(s) of the unfortunate accident.”
