Updated: Police confirm release of abducted Ekiti schoolchildren, driver killed

 

The police have confirmed the release of five pupils of Apostolic Faith School, Emure-Ekiti, Ekiti State, abducted from their school bus last Tuesday.

Three abducted female teachers of the school were also set free.

They however killed the school bus driver, according to information from the police command.

The Police Public Relations Officer Sunday Abutu, said, “All victims were rescued today at about 1.30am, but unfortunately, we lost the driver who was suspected to have been killed by the abductors.”

The children and their teachers had been with the kidnappers since they were kidnapped last Tuesday.

The police did not say if any ransom was paid or not.
