Updated: Two confirmed dead in Lagos train, staff bus collision + Videos (Viewer’s discretion)

Two persons have been confirmed dead and many injured on Thursday when a train crushed a staff bus of the Lagos State Government in the Ikeja area of Lagos.

The Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, Adebayo Taofiq, confirmed the accident in a statement.

“The accident recorded many casualties as the staff bus was fully loaded with govt staff going to the office this morning,” the statement said.

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in Lagos confirmed that two bodies had been recovered.

Ibrahim Farinloye, spokesperson for NEMA, made this known in a chat with Channels Television.

He said, “Two female staff of the state government died in the accident.

“The state government staff bus was trying to cross the PWD/Sogunle rail crossing while the train coming into Lagos from Abeokuta trapped the bus on its rail ”
