Uzodimma appoints Amuneke as Imo sports ambassador

The Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma has appointed the Technical Manager of Heartland Football Club Owerri, Emmanuel Amuneke as the Grand Ambassador of Sports Development in the state.

According to a press statement by the management of the Owerri based football club on Wednesday, the reappointment of the technical manager as the Grand Ambassador of Sports will not distract him from his assignment as the technical manager of the team.

The club thanked the governor for the appointment and assured the governor that the plans to reform the club from its sorry state remain unshakable and intact.

The statement reads: “We are using this medium to express our profound appreciation and gratitude to the Imo State Governor, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma for reaffirming our Technical Manager, Emmanuel Amuneke as the Grand Ambassador of Sports Development in the state.

“We know that our Technical Manager has been serving in this capacity for quite some time now and your reconfirmation showed that you appreciate all that Emmanuel Amuneke has been doing to change the face of Imo through sports most especially his calling- football.

“We are aware of your desire to make Imo the hub of sports and your bid to make sports a vehicle for youth engagement and job creation is commendable with Amuneke at the centre of it.

“Knowing the impeccable role he is to play as the Grand Ambassador of Sports Development in Imo State, our Technical Manager has insisted that he would not be distracted by his main mission at Heartland FC.

“We praise the Governor for all that he has been doing for the club and while thanking him for the recognition of our Technical Manager, Emmanuel Amuneke we also want to assure him that the plan to ensure that the club is properly reformed remains unshakable.”

Recall that Heartland Football Club was relegated from the Nigeria top flight league after finishing 17th on the table with 48 points.

The will now play in the lower tier, Nigeria National League (NNL) after they were brought back to the top flight from relegation last season.
