Twelve persons were crushed to death by a truck in Ondo on Saturday in an accident that occurred near the entrance gate of the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko in Akoko South West Local Government Area.
Several other persons who were around the area were also said to have been injured.
Sources said the driver of the truck lost control of the articulated vehicle due to break failure.
The accident was said to have occurred around 6pm as rescue operation was still ongoing as of 7.30pm.
An eyewitness said the truck was coming from Ikare Akoko in the Akoko North-East Local Government Area of the state rammed into some shops along the road after losing control.
