Violence breaks out in Rivers community, one killed [VIDEOS]

A crisis in the Egbema community, Emohua Local Government Area, Rivers State, has resulted in the death of one person, Innocent Didia, and the arrest of nine others.

According to ChannelsTv on Saturday, the incident occurred on Friday when youths protested against the Community Liaison Officer (CLO), leading to a confrontation with the local vigilante, ONELGA Security Planning Advisory Committee (OSPAC).

The vigilante leader allegedly fired shots, killing Didia.

In retaliation, youths burnt the leader’s car and house.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the incident, stating that nine people are in custody.

The Emohua LG Chairman, Chidi Lloyd, has yet to comment, but videos show widespread destruction in the community.
