Warehouses, shops razed in another Lagos market fire
Goods worth millions of naira have been destroyed in a fire that broke out on Thursday at the Olowu auto spare part market in Ikeja, Lagos State.
Lagos Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Ibrahim Farinloye, confirmed this to journalists on Thursday.
He said the fire affected 13 shops, four warehouses, and one restaurant.
“The cause of the fire cannot be determined as of now,” he said.

“But the chairman of the traders association, Bassey Ikpendu, while narrating the situation, applauded the efforts of the state fire service that prevented the escalation of the incident due to the combustible materials that were involved.”
He said no injury or death was recorded.
The incident came barely two days after a fire outbreak at a five-storey building at Balogun Market in the state. One body was recovered from the fire while seven persons were injured.
Earlier in the month, some sections of the Akere automobile parts market in the Olodi-Apapa area of the state were gutted by fire.
