The presidential campaign of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and re-election of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu received a boost on Tuesday as another campaign platform, Connecting Grassroots Initiative, was launched with funds donation and 27 vehicles for the cause.
Chairman of Lagos State Parks and Garages (LASPG), Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya (aka MC Oluomo), Fuji music king Wasiu Ayinde Marshall and Nollywood stars are some of the prominent people behind the new project.
The launch of the CGI with the unveiling of campaign vehicles took place at the Time Square Ikeja.
Director General of the CGI Ebun Oloyede said the team consisting of Nollywood stars said, “We shall be going from one local government to another till the date of the election. None of us will go to locations. Wherever the night meets us is where we’ll sleep and continue the following day.”
Tinubu, he said, had done a lot for the entertainment industry, hence the decision to stand by him.
“This is the time to pay his kind gesture back. We’re all committed to the actualisation of Tinubu’s project,” he said.
Alhaji Akinsanya promised to assist the team with the necessary logistics to achieve their goal.
He announced the donation of 27 vehicles to ease their movement.
The vehicles were unveiled by Fuji maestro, K1, who announced the donation of N10 million to support the group.
Governor Sanwo-Olu, represented by the Commissioner for Housing, Moruf Akinderu-Fatai, assured the team of security.
Akinderu-Fatai, who is the Director of Mobilisation for the Sanwo-Olu Campaign Group, promised to assist the team with members of the Sanwo-Olu Campaign Group, to aid their work.
He listed several achievements of the governor, enjoining the group to build their campaigns on them.
