President Bola Ahmed Tinubu
We’ll expand food production, become net exporter, says Tinubu
There are plans to expand food production through aggressive mechanisms in the country, President Bola Tinubu has said.
Tinubu stated this on Sunday when he received a delegation from the Global Tijaniyya Movement led by Muhammad Mahe Niass, at the presidential villa in Abuja.
According to a statement issued by Ajuri Ngelale, presidential spokesperson, Tinubu said his administration would transform agriculture to make Nigeria self-sufficient in food production and exportation.
He also said he would support initiatives focused on providing ease to hajj pilgrims in the country.
He said his plans on boosting agriculture would be achieved through “expansion of farmlands, the provision of low-interest loans to farmers, and significant investments in irrigation infrastructure.
“We are dedicated to equipping hospitals with modern equipment, providing healthcare professionals with training, and ensuring social welfare for every citizen, including comprehensive health insurance coverage.”
The statement also quoted the President as saying “Nigeria will become a net exporter of food. We are bringing thousands of tractors. Food production will be greatly expanded through aggressive mechanization.
“We must be productive as a people. That is the Sunnah and the principles I grew up understanding.”
