We’re better together, Nigeria won’t break up – Tinubu

National leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, has said the agitation by some groups and individuals for Nigeria to break up will not materialise.

He warned that Nigeria is at the risk of another war should the country split.

Tinubu spoke in Lagos on Sunday at a special Ramadan prayer, stressing that Nigeria would be better as one country.

He said secession was “not acceptable to us” even as he declared that he had nowhere to go if Nigeria broke up.

The former governor of Lagos added that the country could not afford another war as it was still battling the effects of the civil war.

He said, “God will not allow Nigeria to experience it (war). If we say Nigeria should separate, people should remember what war caused in Sudan and Iraq.

“Such war does not end in time. We are yet to recover from the civil war. We are better together.

“I have nowhere I am going. Whoever has experienced war in the past will not pray for such. Nigeria will not separate; it’s not acceptable to us. Our prayer is for prosperity and more wealth for the country.”
