Why I held closed-door meetings with IBB, Abdulsalami – Shettima

Vice President-elect Kashim Shettima yesterday visited former Military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB) and former Head of State, General Abdulsalam Abubakar at their Uphill homes in Minna, the Niger State capital.

Shettima, who arrived Minna around 3 p.m, headed straight to the homes of the former leaders and had meetings with them behind closed-doors for about 30 minutes each.

The Vice President-elect told reporters after the meetings that he was in the state to get the advice and input, as well as get their perspectives on various issues confronting the nation.

“Our elders are the beacons of hope and we will continue to tap from their wealth of experience. They have a lot to offer the nation and humanity. We will continue to reach out to them for their advice, inputs, and perspectives on issues confronting us as a nation,” he said.

Shettima promised that the incoming administration of Bola Tinubu and himself would help to tackle the challenges bedeviling Niger and other states.

The Vice President-elect also visited the Emir of Minna, Dr. Umar Farouq Bahago.

 He was accompanied by Niger State Governor Abubakar Sani Bello and Governor-elect Mohammed Umar Bago.
