Why I’m pushing Osimhen to join Chelsea – Mikel Obi
Super Eagles and Chelsea legend, Mikel Obi, has revealed that he wants Victor Osimhen to join the club so as to follow in his footsteps and other Nigerian greats.
The reigning African Footballer of the Year has interest from top European sides as he’s set to leave Napoli in the summer.
Speaking at the Web Summit Qatar via Calciomercato.com, Obi Mikel reveals that there’s a genuine interest between Osimhen and Chelsea.
“I think there is genuine interest on both sides. I’m convinced that Victor wants to come to Chelsea; obviously, he wants to follow in my footsteps and the Nigerian players who played for Chelsea, such as Victor Moses, Celestine Babayaro.

“And there’s also London, a fantastic city, there’s no comparison with Liverpool or places like that.”
Mikel also revealed that he’s sent messages to Osimhen to convince him to join his former side.
“He also has many clubs interested in him, such as PSG and Manchester United, but I am pushing, sending him messages, and trying to make sure that there is only one club in his mind: the Blues!”
Speaking further, he stated that he’s acting as ‘Agent Mikel’ following the Blues 1-0 loss to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup.
He said, “I am. I am pushing him. I hope he comes to the club, because he will bring so much to the club. I think the one thing we lack—anyone who watched the [Carabao Cup] final on Sunday will see the one thing we are lacking is scoring goals.
“We need that striker who will score goals. That’s what Victor will give you. He’s not the most skilful guy, but goals, definitely a guarantee.”
According to reports, Osimhen will reportedly cost €130 million (£110m/$140m) to leave Napoli in the summer.
