Why Regina Daniel’s Best Friend Was Arrested – Ned Nwoko

Senator Ned Nwoko has shed light on the arrest of Izuegbu “Ann” Anthonet, a close friend of Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, stating that her detention was linked to serious criminal allegations and not simply because of her association with the actress. The arrest has sparked public debate online.

According to Nwoko’s statement, Ann was detained for allegedly making defamatory claims against him, including accusations of physical abuse and endangering his wife, Laila Nwoko. The senator insists these claims are false and malicious, prompting a criminal defamation complaint submitted to police.

Authorities also allege that Ann was involved in the procurement of an illegal abortion allegedly connected to Regina Daniels, citing evidence submitted to the Maitama Police Station, Abuja. The arrest followed social media posts containing threats, defamatory remarks, and derogatory accusations against Nwoko and his wife.

Ann was reportedly arrested in Lagos on January 12, 2026, detained for several days, and released on January 15, 2026. The case has now been adjourned to March 5, 2026, while public attention remains focused on the ongoing Regina Daniels–Ned Nwoko dispute, which has included previous allegations of domestic violence and legal conflicts.
