Woman stabs 6-yr-old daughter of neighbour over second wife advice
A six-year-old girl, Sharifa Usman, has been stabbed on her stomach by her neighbour, who accused her father of advising her husband to take a second wife.
The suspect (name withheld) allegedly dumped the girl after stabbing her in an uncompleted building in Mariri, Hotoro area of Kumbotso in Kano metropolis.
Witnesses said that the woman, who is presently on the run, decided to take revenge on the man’s daughter who is presently receiving treatment at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH).
A neighbour to the victim and the suspect, who chose not to be named, said the victim’s screaming in the building where she was dumped alerted passersby who rushed her to the hospital.

A witness said, “She took her to Mariri from Gadon Kaya and dumped her there. She thought the girl was dead. She whisked her away when they were playing with other children. She asked the girl to follow her to buy firewood and there she committed the offence.”
The father of the victim, Usman Muhammad, said he never influenced the woman’s husband to take a second wife, noting that the husband was not even planning to do so.
While noting that there were no grudges between them, he said, “She even came and congratulated my wife for delivering a new baby a day before she committed the offence.”
The police were yet to comment on the incident as the spokesman of the state command did not respond to calls and messages sent to him by our reporter.
