Yahaya Bello: Sowore clashes with security operatives at Abuja court
Omoyele Sowore, publisher of Sahara Reporters and former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), has criticized officers of the Nigeria Police and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for attempting to prevent his access to the Federal High Court in Abuja.
The security operatives were stationed at the court premises amid the ongoing trial of former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, who faces allegations of public fund diversion and money laundering.
In a video shared on his official X account, Sowore was seen in a heated exchange with the officers, asserting his right to enter the court.
He accused the officers of joining hands with Nigerian leaders to ruin the nation’s judicial system while stating that even them (the officers) have no business in the court.

He also accused the security officers of illegally taking over the court premises because of a “thief’”(Yahaya Bello) who they brought to court for his trial.
Sowore said, “Why are you shouting at me? Do I look like Yahaya Bello? I have business in court. I don’t need to be cleared by either the police or EFCC because none of you is an officer of the court.
“This is a Federal High Court; bring a court official, and I will talk to them. EFCC brought me to court, and they are still harassing us. You have no right to stand in front of the high court. You are not my lawyer and have no right to know my case,” he said.
Despite their attempt to stop him, Sowore continued until a police officer was heard instructing his colleagues to allow him enter the premises of the court.
