Youth group insists on Seyi Tinubu as next Lagos governor

The Coalition of Nigerian Youth Leaders (CONYL) has strongly backed the potential candidacy of Seyi Tinubu for the Lagos State governorship in 2027, likening his succession to leadership transitions seen in religious institutions.

In a statement issued on Sunday in Owerri, CONYL President General, Comrade Goodluck Ibem, defended the calls for Seyi Tinubu to run, asserting that he is constitutionally entitled to contest for public office.

He stated that family ties to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should not hinder Seyi’s ambitions.

“Pastors and General Overseers of churches hand over their ministries to their sons upon retirement. Why should a young, capable leader like Seyi Tinubu be denied the opportunity to serve Lagos State simply because of his father’s legacy?” Ibem questioned.

The group described Seyi Tinubu as a visionary and intelligent young man, calling his potential governorship bid a “divine call” and urging him to answer the call to duty.

They further appealed to all lovers of democracy to support Seyi Tinubu, insisting he is well-prepared to elevate Lagos to new heights. Additionally,

CONYL called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to endorse his son’s bid by giving his blessings for Seyi to contest for the office of the governor of Lagos state come 2027.
