Zamfara community guard intercepts vehicle loaded with weapons for bandits
Officials of the Community Protection Guard (CPG) in Zamfara State have intercepted a commercial vehicle allegedly transporting arms believed to be destined for bandits operating in the state.
The interception took place in Dangulbi community during a routine stop-and-search operation, where CPG operatives reportedly discovered two AK-47 rifles, a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) launcher and rounds of ammunition concealed inside a carton filled with fish.
One of the CPG officials, Salisu Adamu, confirmed the incident, stating that the driver initially resisted allowing the vehicle to be searched.

“The weapons were hidden in a carton of fish. When we insisted on checking the vehicle, the driver tried to resist, but we stood our ground,” he said.
The driver, identified as Bashar Mustapha, admitted that the arms were found inside his vehicle but claimed he was unaware of their presence. According to him, the weapons belonged to a female passenger who boarded the vehicle at Gusau Motor Park.
“I was heading to Magami with goods and passengers when the CPG stopped us. The weapons were not mine; they were loaded by a woman who joined the vehicle in Gusau,” he explained.
The suspect and the recovered weapons have been handed over to security authorities for further investigation.
