A freight train loaded with water pipes heading to Zaria from Lagos has derailed at Unguwa Kanawa in the Kaduna North Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The incident, which was said to have happened on Saturday evening, claimed no life and caused no damage to any property.
Kaduna Police Command spokesman, ASP Mohammed Jalige, confirmed the incident, adding that the train had developed some faults leading to the accident.
He also confirmed that no life was lost and no property damaged in the accident.
Jalige further stated security operatives had been deployed to secure the place and protect the pipes against possible vandalism.
Confirming the development, Kaduna Sector Commander of Federal Road Safety Corps, Hafiz Mohammed, described the accident as minor.
He added the railway headquarters had been contacted to send their technical team to the scene.
