Outrageous transfer fee likely to keep Osimhen in Napoli

A German  leading newspaper has stated that it is looking unlikely that Super Eagles attacker, Victor Osimhen would depart Napoli before the end of the current transfer window due to his outrageous transfer fee.

Osimhen has been one of the most sought-after players on the transfer market for over a year.

However, he has so far been able to avoid a departure with enormous demands  but the striker has stated his desire to leave the Partenopei.

But Napoli continues to emphasize to that Osimhen is still under contract until the end of 2026, with the extension done December last year.

With Antonio Conte now in charge of Napoli, the club have long been looking for a solution to fulfill the Nigerian’s allegedly urgent wish for a change of club as expressed by Matteo Moretto in the “Daily Briefing” by transfer insider Fabrizio Romano.

It is very unlikely, however, that an interested party will pay the mega exit clause of 130 million euros allegedly anchored in Osimhen’s contract.

At the moment, things are said to be pretty quiet about Osimhen, and previous interest in Saudi Arabia and from Paris Saint-Germain has cooled considerably.

Even an alleged desire from Chelsea, which the “Sun” recently reported on, has not yet proven to be very hot.

The English daily recently reported that the Blues are offering around 45 million euros for Osimhen and are also including none other than offensive star Romelu Lukaku in the deal. The Blues once paid around 113 million euros for the Belgian.

After a rather disappointing season in London, Lukaku spent the 2022/23 season at Inter Milan and 2023/24 at AS Roma. The 31-year-old certainly impressed at both stations. Lukaku’s market value is currently estimated at around 30 million euros.

But that’s not all: In addition to a transfer fee and Lukaku, 21-year-old midfielder Cesare Casadei is also set to move from Chelsea to Napoli. The Italian is likely to be valued at a low double-digit million sum.

Ademola Lookman’s masterclass seals win for Atalanta against Fiorentina

Nigerian international Ademola Lookman was the star of the show on Sunday, delivering a match-winning performance as Atalanta secured a dramatic 3-2 victory over Fiorentina in an explosive Serie A encounter at the Gewiss Stadium.

Lookman not only scored the decisive goal but also provided a crucial assist that helped Atalanta draw level earlier in the match.

Fiorentina took the lead early in the game, but Lookman’s magic inspired Atalanta’s comeback.

The visitors opened the scoring in the 15th minute when Lucas Martinez Quarta capitalized on a rebound, rifling the ball into the back of the net from close range.

Atalanta, however, responded quickly. In the 21st minute, Lookman sent a superb cross into the box, and Mateo Retegui connected with a powerful header that left Fiorentina goalkeeper David de Gea with no chance, leveling the score at 1-1.

Fiorentina regained the lead in the 32nd minute when Moise Kean tapped home after Robin Gosens headed the ball across the goal. Moments later, Kean came close to adding a third but saw his effort hit the post.

Atalanta fought back once again, and just before halftime, Charles De Ketelaere’s deft header from an Ederson free kick made it 2-2.

The momentum had shifted, and it didn’t take long for Lookman to showcase his individual brilliance. In first-half stoppage time, he embarked on a solo run, weaving through the Fiorentina defence before slotting the ball into the bottom left corner to give Atalanta a 3-2 lead.

Lookman nearly extended his tally in the second half, coming close to scoring on several occasions, including a narrow miss in the 49th minute.

Despite Fiorentina’s pressure, Atalanta held on for a crucial victory, with goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi also making a number of key saves to secure the win.
