Accidental Discharge: Police warn hunters against carelessness
The Osun State Police Command has cautioned hunters across the state on use of guns for hunting expeditions.
The police lamented the increasing number of accidental discharges which most of the time lead to death of innocent residents of the state.
The command, through its spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, said, “We are constrained to caution/sensitize members of the public, especially hunters on the use of guns for hunting.

“We are confronted with incessant cases of accidental discharge or misfiring of guns which on several occasions has led to the death of human beings and various degree of injuries sustained.
“The Police Command is using this medium to caution hunters on the need to abide by the rule(s) of hunting expeditions.”
Opalola further urged hunters to avoid putting loaded guns in their homes as children or other persons could be tempted to play with them.
“In order to reduce the hazards of accidental discharge which is very dangerous to human lives, the Command further warned that such unwholesome acts of negligence will not be treated with levity.”
