ADC Kaduna expels deputy chairman, eight others over alleged misconduct

KADUNA — The Kaduna State Executive Committee of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has expelled its Deputy Chairman, Ahmed Tijani Mustapha, along with eight other top officials, citing allegations of gross misconduct and actions deemed detrimental to the party’s integrity.

The decision, announced in a statement following a high-level meeting in Kaduna, was reached unanimously by party leaders who reaffirmed their commitment to discipline, internal cohesion, and the rule of law within the party.

Among those expelled are key state executives including the Publicity Secretary, Idris Musa; Vice Chairman (Zone 1), Sulaiman Abdullahi; Treasurer, Gambo Sani; Financial Secretary, Magaji Maiwada; and Legal Adviser, Danlami Dabai Musa. Others on the expulsion list include the State Coordinator of Persons With Disabilities (PWD), Saura Muhammed; Deputy Youth Leader, Ibrahim Muhammed; and Mansur Gaga.

According to the ADC leadership, the affected members were found guilty of serious infractions including insubordination, convening unauthorized meetings aimed at undermining party leadership, document falsification, and extortion of party members—offences the party described as capable of tarnishing its image.

Addressing journalists at a press conference, ADC State Chairman Elder Patrick Ambut stated that the actions of the expelled members, particularly the Deputy Chairman, constituted a breach of the party’s constitution and a threat to its unity in Kaduna and the wider North-West region.

“The Deputy Chairman acted without due process and lacks the constitutional authority to convene meetings or issue directives,” Ambut said. “His actions were a clear abuse of office and a violation of the party’s established procedures.”

He emphasized that the ADC in Kaduna remains steadfast in upholding the principles of peace, discipline, and constitutional order, adding that the party would not tolerate any conduct that undermines its structure or credibility.

“As law-abiding members of the ADC, we are resolute in preserving the integrity of our party and ensuring that all actions align with our constitutional framework,” Ambut concluded.
