Adebule empowers 1,000 Lagos-West residents, unveils scorecard of social interventions, others

Thousands of stakeholders, community leaders and constituents on Saturday converged on the LTV Blue Roof Pavilion, Ikeja, as the Senator representing Lagos-West Senatorial District, Dr. Idiat Oluranti Adebule, rolled out a massive empowerment programme that saw 1,000 beneficiaries equipped with tools, equipment and cash grants to boost entrepreneurship, job creation and economic inclusion across the district.
The event, tagged Lagos-West Senatorial District Stakeholders’ Engagement and Constituents Mega Empowerment Programme, also served as a platform for the lawmaker to present a detailed scorecard of her legislative activities, constituency projects and social intervention programmes since assuming office in June 2023.
Addressing the gathering, Adebule described the programme as a fulfilment of her social contract with the people of Lagos-West and a practical contribution to poverty alleviation and job creation under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
“Nothing gives me greater joy than putting smiles on the faces of our people and renewing their hopes in a future of shared prosperity and fulfilment,” she said, noting that although the programme was initially slated for December 2025, it was rescheduled to January 10, 2026, due to circumstances beyond her control.
She explained that the annual empowerment initiative, now in its third edition, had grown “bigger and better,” with beneficiaries undergoing intensive skills acquisition training before receiving start-up tools and support to establish small businesses.
According to the senator, the 1,000 beneficiaries—drawn from the 28 local governments and LCDAs in Lagos-West—were trained in six key skill areas, including ICT, hairdressing, catering and hospitality, barbing, tailoring and cosmetology.

Each beneficiary received relevant tools and equipment, while some categories went home with cash grants of N200,000.
Items distributed included sewing machines, hair dryers and accessories, barbing clippers with generators, laptops, catering equipment, make-up kits, as well as small commercial buses to support transportation businesses.
Beyond empowerment, Adebule used the occasion to present a summary of her legislative footprint in the 10th Senate.

She disclosed that she had sponsored 12 bills and co-sponsored six others, bringing the total to 18 bills, in addition to two motions that have been adopted by the Senate.
She reiterated that her legislative work is complemented by people-centred constituency projects aimed at addressing critical needs at the grassroots.

Among projects facilitated through federal ministries and agencies are two primary healthcare centres under construction in Igbolobi, a riverine community in Ojo Local Government, and Isokan area of Ojokoro in Ifako-Ijaiye.
She also announced the construction of a first-of-its-kind multipurpose Youth Development Centre in Badagry, equipped with ICT, sports and skills acquisition facilities, as well as the installation of over 1,000 solar streetlights across 42 streets in Lagos-West.
Other interventions highlighted include the commissioning of a skills acquisition centre in Mushin, construction and completion of classroom blocks in Ajeromi-Ifelodun, Onigbongbo, Ojo and Oshodi; completion of six solar-powered borehole projects, donation of electricity transformers to seven communities, and the facilitation of security training for traditional rulers.
Adebule also noted her interventions for vulnerable groups, including the provision of equipment and aids to persons living with disabilities, to reduce dependency and enhance inclusion.
She assured constituents that ongoing projects would be completed soon, citing assurances from the Federal Government on improved funding.

Looking ahead, she said her focus in the 2026 budget year would include inner road construction and the completion of existing projects.
Calling for sustained support, the senator urged constituents to continue backing President Tinubu, whom she described as undertaking “difficult but necessary reforms” to reset Nigeria’s economy for sustainable growth.
She expressed gratitude to party leaders and political stakeholders, including President Tinubu and First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Lagos APC leaders, members of the Governance Advisory Council, and her colleague, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), whom she described as a strong pillar of support in the Senate.

Earlier in his welcome address, Hon. Rasaq Olusola Ajala, former Chairman of Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA, described the empowerment programme as a clear demonstration of purposeful, people-oriented leadership.
Ajala said the initiative had become a flagship platform for economic upliftment in Lagos-West, noting that Adebule had consistently shown that leadership goes beyond lawmaking to directly touching lives and creating opportunities.
“This programme stands as a testament to her vision of a stronger, self-reliant and economically empowered Lagos-West,” he said, urging beneficiaries to utilise the support effectively to achieve productivity and self-sufficiency.
The event, attended by political leaders, traditional rulers, party chieftains and constituents, reinforced Adebule’s commitment to social inclusion, grassroots development and responsive representation in Lagos-West Senatorial District.
