Another attack on Benue community claims 10 lives
Gunmen have once again attacked a community in Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State, resulting in the deaths of at least 10 people.
The assailants targeted the Olegumachi community on Tuesday evening, unleashing terror and burning down houses.
This latest incident follows closely on the heels of a previous attack in the same local government area, where an aged couple and another individual were killed in the Ikpele community just four days earlier.
A local source, who preferred to remain anonymous, recounted that the gunmen invaded Olegumachi, killing several residents and setting many homes ablaze.

Phillip Ebenyakwu, the chairman of the local government, confirmed the attack in a phone conversation with journalists on Wednesday. He reported that 10 people were killed and seven houses were destroyed.
“Yes, it’s confirmed. There was an attack. What they gave me is 10 (those killed),” Ebenyakwu said. He described the attackers as armed with sophisticated weapons, looting, robbing, burning houses, and killing people.
The attackers also took away numerous properties and animals, including goats and fowls.
Ebenyakwu stated that he had informed the police and the Department of State Security about the incident.
However, Catherine Anene, the Police Public Relations Officer for the state command, mentioned that she had not yet received a report from the Divisional Police Officer in Agatu.
