Army General makes history jumping from flying plane at Kaduna training
Brigadier General Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu of the Nigerian Army has jumped from a moving plane and landed safely, using a parachute during airborne training in Kaduna State.
Aliyu became the second General in the Nigerian Army to jump from a moving plane, matching the feat achieved by former Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Kenneth TJ Minimah.
Minimah, a member of the Regular Cadet Course 25 of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), and was commissioned into the Nigerian Army on December 18, 1981. He was Chief of Army Staff between January 2014 to 2015.
The historic parachute jump took place on Thursday, with General Aliyu leading by example as he jumped alongside cadets from the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA).

The cadets marked their first parachute jump, marking the beginning of their careers as officers in the Armed Forces of Nigeria, journalists were told.

“The jump is seen as a significant moment in the Nigerian Army’s history, demonstrating General Aliyu’s commitment to leading by example and sharing in the challenges and triumphs of those he leads.

“The Nigerian Army has praised General Aliyu’s achievement, saying it reflects the army’s values of courage, leadership, and teamwork.”
