Army Kills Five Bandits in Sokoto–Zamfara Offensive, Recovers Arms, Motorcycles

Troops of the 8 Division Garrison of the Nigerian Army have neutralised five armed bandits and recovered weapons and motorcycles during a coordinated military offensive across parts of Sokoto and Zamfara States.

A military source told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Sokoto that the operation commenced on Wednesday as part of sustained efforts to dismantle bandit networks terrorising communities in the North-West.

The source described the operation as a major blow against banditry, noting that troops carried out sweeping assaults on notorious hideouts spanning both states.

“The coordinated assaults targeted known bandit enclaves in Gangara, Makawana, Satiru, Baici and Kurkusu villages within Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State,” the source said, adding that the swift advance disrupted criminal networks and forced many bandits to flee.

The operation later intensified in Batamna village, Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State, where troops encountered stiff resistance from the criminals.

“In a fierce exchange of fire, the troops neutralised five bandits and recovered weapons, motorcycles and Baofeng radios used to carry out criminal activities,” the source added.

The latest success follows earlier operations this month in which troops of the 8 Division Nigerian Army neutralised notorious bandit kingpins, Kachalla Kallamu and Kachalla Na’Allah, in Sabon Birnin and Isa Local Government Areas of Sokoto State.

The military said operations are ongoing to sustain pressure on bandits and restore security in Sokoto and Zamfara States.
