Bandits release abducted four FGC schoolgirls with two babies two years after
Bandits have released four schoolgirls two years after they were kidnapped from their college in Taraba State.
They are part of 11 remaining students in the custody of the bandits who invaded the Federal Government College Birnin Yauri on June 17, 2021 and went away with 70 students and four teachers.
The released schoolgirls are Bilha Musa, Faiza Ahmed, Rahma Abdullahi and Hafsa Murtala.
It was learnt that two of the released students returned with two babies delivered while in captivity.
They were reportedly released by a notorious bandit leader, Dogo Gide, on Friday evening.
Daily Trust quoted Salim Kaoje as saying on Saturday morning that it took six days of negotiations in the forest before four of the girls were released to us.”
“We have seven more still in captivity and two of the parents are still in the forest trying to secure their release.”
He also said they paid an undisclosed amount to secure the release of the four girls after they sold their properties with a fund raising that saw many Nigerians assist the parents financially.
In January, Kaoje had confirmed that they were in talks with Dogo Gide after they sought intervention through the mother of the bandit.
