Prince Yusuf Derdoski
Suspected bandits on Saturday night attacked a private residence in Pindiga town, Akko Local Government Area of Gombe State, killing two people and abducting two others in a renewed wave of insecurity in North-East Nigeria.
The victims were identified as Prince Yusuf Derdoski and his pregnant sister, who were reportedly shot dead during the attack. Two other siblings were abducted by the assailants and taken to an unknown destination, leaving the community in shock and mourning.
The incident was first made public by a security analyst, Bakatsine, via his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle on Sunday morning. Describing the attack as brutal, he raised concerns over repeated security lapses in parts of Gombe State, questioning the effectiveness of intelligence gathering and rapid response mechanisms in vulnerable communities.

Residents said the attackers stormed the residence late at night, opened fire and fled before help could arrive. No resistance was reported during the operation, suggesting the assailants acted swiftly and with precision.
As of the time of filing this report, the Nigeria Police Force and Gombe State Government had yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
The Pindiga attack adds to growing concerns over the spread of banditry, kidnappings and violent crimes beyond Nigeria’s traditional flashpoints in the North-West into parts of the North-East, where communities have increasingly reported raids on homes, farms and highways.
Security analysts warn that unless proactive measures are taken to improve surveillance, intelligence sharing and rapid deployment, attacks on rural and semi-urban communities may continue to escalate.
