BREAKING: Tragedy as hungry lion kills OAU worker in ile-Ife
Olabode Olawuyi, a staff member at Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife, was killed by a nine-year-old lion in the institution’s zoological park.
Abiodun Olarewaju, the university’s Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident, stating that Olawuyi was a veterinary technologist who had been in command of the garden for more than a decade.
Olanrewaju said the deceased was attacked on Monday while feeding the lions in their den at the garden of the university.

According to the statement, other members of staff who were at the scene of the incident did everything within their power to rescue their boss but the wild cat had already caused severe fatality.
The statement added that the university management had sent a delegation to the widow and children of the deceased.
Meanwhile, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Adebayo Simeon Bamire, has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the immediate and remote causes of the incident.
