BREAKING: Wike-Led PDP Faction Seizes Party Secretariat Amid Heavy Police Presence
A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has taken control of the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
Led by its self-declared National Chairman, Abdulrahman Mohammed, the group arrived at the secretariat at about 9:35 a.m. on Tuesday, accompanied by truckloads of heavily armed police officers stationed at key entry points and strategic locations around the building.
The Wike faction had earlier issued a notice announcing its intention to hold its Board of Trustees (BoT) and National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings at the party headquarters.

The move has effectively shut out the rival faction loyal to Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, which elected former minister Kabiru Turaki as National Chairman during its convention in Ibadan.
Turaki, who met with the FCT Commissioner of Police, Miller Dantawaye, on Monday, had sought security protection for his group to convene the inaugural meeting of its National Working Committee (NWC).
Speaking after the meeting, Turaki vowed that his faction was prepared to “defend the party with their lives.”
As at the time of filing this report, no member of the Turaki-led NWC had gained access to the secretariat.
