Chelsea set new record as teenagers humiliate 10-man Ajax

Chelsea etched their name into Champions League history on Wednesday night, becoming the first club to field three teenage goalscorers in a single match, as they dismantled Ajax 5–1 at Stamford Bridge.

The landmark victory was ignited by 19-year-old Marc Guiu, who opened the scoring just moments after Ajax captain Kenneth Taylor was sent off for a reckless challenge. Guiu’s goal briefly made him Chelsea’s youngest scorer in the competition—until 18-year-old Estevao Willian stepped up 33 minutes later to convert the third of three first-half penalties, eclipsing Guiu’s record.

The Blues’ early dominance was underscored by a flurry of goals in a chaotic first half. Enzo Fernandez and Wout Weghorst each converted penalties, while Moises Caicedo added a thunderous long-range strike. Ajax’s defensive frailty was further exposed when Youri Baas fouled Estevao in stoppage time, allowing the teenager to net his second of the night.

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca made three changes at halftime, including the introduction of 18-year-old Tyrique George, who wasted no time in joining the scoring party with a composed finish from the edge of the box. Later, 17-year-old Reggie Walsh entered the fray, becoming Chelsea’s youngest-ever Champions League player and the second youngest Englishman to feature in the competition, behind Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere.

Despite a consolation goal from Weghorst, Ajax’s performance was marred by poor discipline and defensive lapses. The Dutch giants, four-time winners of the tournament, remain winless in all competitions over their last four outings and sit bottom of the 36-team Champions League standings.

Chelsea, meanwhile, continue their resurgence in Europe, securing back-to-back wins following an opening defeat to Bayern Munich. The London club now prepares to travel to Azerbaijan for their next group stage clash against Qarabag.
