China Condemns U.S. Capture of Maduro, Demands Immediate Release
China has called on the United States to immediately release Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife after a U.S. military strike on Caracas led to their capture. The Chinese Foreign Ministry described the operation as a “clear violation of international law” and Venezuelan sovereignty.
In a statement, Beijing urged Washington to ensure the personal safety of Maduro and his spouse, release them “at once,” and halt efforts to topple the Venezuelan government. The ministry emphasized that the use of force contravenes the United Nations Charter and basic norms of international relations, advocating instead for dialogue and negotiation to resolve the crisis.
