Kwara Police Investigate Suspected Arson Attack in Ilorin, Three Suspects Detained
The Kwara State Police Command has launched an investigation into a suspected arson attack at Isale Koko, Ilorin, authorities said on Saturday.
According to a statement by the police public relations officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, no lives were lost as the building was unoccupied at the time of the fire, which occurred on January 1, 2026, at about 7:00 p.m. The value of the destroyed property is yet to be determined.
The incident was reported the following day at the C Division Police Station, Oja Oba, Ilorin. The complainant, Mrs. T. A. Olorisha, alleged that her house was deliberately set ablaze by unknown individuals. She also revealed that she had received threats in November 2025 over religious differences, as she practices traditional worship.

SP Ejire-Adeyemi said the victim provided crucial information that led to the detention of three suspects, who are currently assisting with the ongoing investigation.
“The command assures members of the public that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other suspected perpetrators, while all allegations are being diligently investigated,” Ejire-Adeyemi stated.
She further reiterated the police’s commitment to protecting lives and property and safeguarding the fundamental rights of all residents, regardless of religious or cultural beliefs. Citizens have been urged to remain calm and provide any information that could aid the investigation.
