The decision comes after months of resistance to congressional subpoenas. The committee, chaired by Republican Rep. James Comer, has been probing Epstein’s connections to high-profile individuals and the government’s handling of related matters. Attorneys for the Clintons informed committee staff that the couple is willing to appear for depositions on mutually agreeable dates, signaling a willingness to cooperate while negotiations over logistics continue.

Comer acknowledged the offer but stated the agreement was not yet finalized, leaving open the possibility of the contempt vote depending on how negotiations proceed. If the House approves the contempt resolutions, the matter could be referred to the Department of Justice, which could impose fines or jail time — though such outcomes are rare for former U.S. leaders.

The Clintons have consistently denied any wrongdoing in relation to Epstein. Bill Clinton has acknowledged knowing Epstein years ago but maintains he had no knowledge of Epstein’s criminal activities.
