Comprehensive review of migration, visa policies underway – Interior Minister

The Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has announced that a comprehensive review of migration and visa policies is currently underway with the support of key stakeholders. This review aims to streamline and simplify the processes for Nigerians both at home and abroad. The Minister made this announcement during a courtesy visit by Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM).

Tunji-Ojo expressed concern about certain imbalances in migration and visa policies that could make Nigeria appear as a destination for unwanted individuals. He emphasized that the review would take into consideration the principle of reciprocity, aligning with international standards.

The Minister commended NIDCOM for its proactive efforts and expressed his confidence in the Commission’s potential to contribute significantly to the welfare of Nigerians in the Diaspora and enhance the country’s image on the global stage.
