Economic reforms under Tinubu won’t happen overnight, Buhari tells Nigerians
Former President Muhammadu Buhari has told Nigerians that the ongoing economic reforms under his successor, President Bola Tinubu, will not happen overnight, saying the process will be gradual.
“Our expectations from our governments should not get heavy,” Mr Buhari said in a statement signed by his spokesman, Garba Shehu, on Wednesday to mark Mr Tinubu’s two years in office.
He warned that necessary reforms and desired changes must not fall victim to “nettlesome” domestic politics.
Recall that Mr Buhari handed over the mantle of leadership to Mr Tinubu, his fellow party man, in May 2023.

While calling for support for the APC-led government, Mr Buhari also urged Nigerians to remain optimistic and confident about the country’s future.
According to him, the country should be reminded that leadership is a continuous journey as it celebrates the government’s milestone.
He expressed support for the ongoing efforts by the administration to curb poverty and inflation, saying the situation has hit the poorest families the hardest.
Mr Buhari, however, said the task of reducing poverty and inflation — which is immense — must not be left to the government alone.
“I am wishing President Tinubu heartfelt congratulations on his two years in office. May you keep leading with wisdom and care,” he added.
