The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested Kannywood actress Samha Inuwa following the circulation of a viral video in which she allegedly used naira notes to clean her nose, an act considered a violation of Nigerian currency laws. The arrest was carried out by operatives of the Kano Zonal Directorate of the EFCC on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, after tracing the actress through the widely shared social media footage. The EFCC described the action as necessary to enforce the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Act, which prohibits the defacing, mutilation, or misuse of Nigerian currency.

In a statement, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale said investigations began immediately after the video surfaced. He confirmed that Samha Inuwa is currently in detention at the EFCC facility in Kano and will be charged in court once inquiries are completed. The commission emphasized that this step is part of a broader crackdown on currency abuse, aiming to safeguard the integrity of the naira and prevent its misuse in public settings.
