Ejimakor, Nnamdi Kanu’s special counsel, breaks down in Kuje prison
Aloy Ejimakor, special counsel to detained IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu, has reportedly taken ill at the Kuje Correctional Centre in Abuja, barely 24 hours after a magistrate allegedly refused to sign his bail documents.
Ejimakor, who was arrested alongside 12 others during a #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest on Monday, was said to have collapsed on Friday and was unable to meet with his legal team during their routine visit. His colleague, Barrister Maxwell Opara, confirmed the development, saying Ejimakor was too weak to sit or stand.
Sources within the correctional facility disclosed that nurses at the prison clinic attended to him before he was moved to a hospital for further treatment. His condition is said to be deteriorating and he remains under medical observation.

Ejimakor was arrested alongside Nnamdi Kanu’s younger brother, Prince Emmanuel Kanu, and human rights activist Omoyele Sowore, among others. The group was reportedly teargassed and beaten before being detained overnight at the SARS facility known as “Abattoir.”
They were arraigned the following day before Magistrate Abubakar Umar Sai’id at the Kuje Magistrate Court, who allegedly granted bail but failed to sign the bail bond before disappearing from the courtroom.
The delay has sparked outrage among rights advocates, with concerns mounting over the health and safety of those detained.
