Emir Sanusi’s aide accused of sacking three village heads without due process
Residents of Fangido, Daba, Danbagina and Santolo villages under Dawakin Kudu District of Kano State have rejected the sacking of their village heads by a supervisory district head appointed by Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II to supervise the district.
Recall that following the repealing of the Kano Emirates Law, Dawakin Kudu returned under the control of Kano Emirate.
The emir therefore appointed a representative to oversee the activities of the district, pending the appointment of a substantive District Head.
But controversy began when the supervisory district head, Ado Yusuf-Abdullahi, invalidated the election that produced three out of the 30 Village Heads in the district without any reason.
Mr Yusuf-Abdullahi reportedly claimed that he received a directive from the emir to remove the affected village heads.

He also directed close rivals of the affected village heads to take over their positions pending the time a new election is conducted.
This development, it was gathered, angered the residents of the area who staged a protest, condemning the arbitrariness of the district.
One of the residents who spoke with our correspondent disclosed that the supervising district head had connived with the Interim Chairman of Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area, Rabiu Dogo, to perpetrate the illegality.
Pleading anonymity, the resident said: “We know that there is vested interest in the leadership crisis rocking our communities.
“At first, five village heads were penciled for sack but after money exchanged hands, only three were dislodged from their position.
“I also want to believe that our respected emir, Muhammadu Sanusi II, is not aware of what is going on in our community.
“It is also on record that no letter from the emir indicting the affected village heads was presented. Some politicians are only using the opportunity install their stooges as village heads, that is why they are calling for a new election,” the resident disclosed.
When contacted, Mr Yusuf-Abdullahi did not pick calls and messages sent to his known phone number.
