Factional NNPP NEC insists Kano gov remains suspended for six months
The suspension placed on Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State as a member of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has not been lifted, the party has said.
According to the NNPP, the suspension of the governor from the party will remain till December.
The party made the disclosure in a statement by the Party’s National Secretary, Mr Oginni Olaposi Sunday in Abuja.
Sunday disclosed that the party would be holding a strategic stakeholders meeting in Abuja later this month to address pressing internal matters affecting the party, adding that all party leaders and elders across the country are expected to attend.
Sunday explained that critical issues affecting the 23 years old political party would be discussed and strong decisions taken to further reinforce the expulsion of its Presidential Candidate in the 2023 general election, Rabiu Kwankwaso; Elder Buba Galadima and the entire national working committee led by Dr Ahmed Ajuji.

He further stated that the stakeholders meeting is very important to the leadership of NNPP for the advancement of democracy and development of the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“The personal commitment of all stakeholders and elders in terms of capacity and participation shall be of great advantage to the success of the meeting.
“All members, most especially those holding very sensitive positions of great responsibilities are compulsorily mandated to attend this coming meeting.
“All elected members on the platform of NNPP should equally understand the consequences of anti-party activities ahead of the 2027 general election if they boycott the meeting.
“And for the record, Kwankwaso, Galadima and the entire members of the Former National Working Committee led by Dr Ahmed Ajuji remain expelled from the NNPP.
“Also the Governor of Kano State, Abbah Yusuf remains suspended till December,” he stated.
According to the national secretary, the NNPP’s constitution is supreme for all members without prejudices to the grand norm of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“It is our hope that INEC would take responsibility to respect the essence of internal democracy and inherent objectives for growth and sustenance of democracy in Nigeria,” he added.
